Kasich Trial Balloon Deflates

From the NY Times, “Ted Cruz-John Kasich Alliance Against Donald Trump Quickly Weakens“.

The temporary alliance between Senator Ted Cruz and Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, formed to deny Donald J. Trump the Republican presidential Kasich_Trial_Balloon_Fantasynomination, was already in danger of fraying to the point of irrelevance on Monday, only hours after it was announced to great fanfare.

The agreement, in which the two candidates agreed to cede forthcoming states to one another — Mr. Kasich would, most crucially, stand down in Indiana’s primary on May 3 to give Mr. Cruz a better chance to defeat Mr. Trump there, while Mr. Cruz would leave Oregon and New Mexico to Mr. Kasich — carried the stench of desperation, but initially it seemed like a breakthrough.

No ‘Effing Snowflakes Here

Compare these 1895 Freshman/Sophomore Class Princeton “Snowball Warriors”  to the poor little ‘Effing Emory Snowflakes that can’t survive a little chalk dust.

Here’s the report from The Washington Post, “Someone wrote ‘Trump 2016’ on Emory’s campus in chalk. Some students said they no longer feel safe“.

Students woke up Monday morning to find messages written in chalk all over campus, in support of Donald Trump. That afternoon, a group of 40 to 50 students protested. According to the student newspaper, the Emory Wheel, Princeton_Snowball_Fightthey shouted in the quad, “You are not listening! Come speak to us, we are in pain!” and then students moved into the administration building calling out, “It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.”

Jim Wagner, the president of the university in Atlanta, met with the protesters and later sent an email to the campus community, saying, in part, “During our conversation, they voiced their genuine concern and pain in the face of this perceived intimidation.

The story spread quickly, as media such as Reason mocked, “At Emory University, Writing ‘Trump 2016′ on Sidewalk Is a Racist Microaggression …,” with references to students needing “trigger warnings” and “safe spaces” to protect them from presidential candidates’ names and slogans. For many, it was another sign of college students being so overly sensitive that even political campaigning could be seen as hate speech.

Slouching From the Cheerios – #Whiners

From the WaPost.com, “The baffling reason many millennials don’t eat cereal“.

Few things are as painless to prepare as cereal. Making it requires little more than pouring something (a cereal of your choice) into a bowl and then pouring something else (a milk of your choice) into the same bowl. Eating it requires Bernie_Birdie_Supporters_01little more than a spoon and your mouth. The food, which Americans still buy $10 billion of annually, has thrived over the decades, at least in part, because of this very quality: its convenience.

And yet, for today’s youth, cereal isn’t easy enough.

[A]nother thing happening, which should scare cereal makers — and, really, anyone who has a stake in this country’s future — more: A large contingent of millennials are uninterested in breakfast cereal because eating it means using a bowl, and bowls don’t clean themselves (or get tossed in the garbage). Bowls, kids these days groan, have to be cleaned.

A Question For the Trump Protesters

From AZFamily.com, “Trump protesters block streets in Fountain Hills“.

For hours, the protesters – about two dozen in total – parked their cars in the middle of the road, unfurling banners reading “Dump Trump” and “Must Stop Guns_Conservatives_With_Guns_BehavingTrump,” and chanting “Trump is hate.” Traffic was backed up for miles, with drivers honking in fury.

Protesters were also chanting, “Donald Trump, shut it down, Phoenix is the people’s town.”

The road was eventually cleared and protesters marched down the highway to the rally site, weaving between Trump supporters who booed and jeered them.
